94 Points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate!

The 2022 Il Campo Rosso is a blend of Sangiovese, Aglianico, Barbera and Nebbiolo. It has deep scents of red cherries and plums, oolong tea leaves, dusty earth, orange peel and pipe tobacco. The medium-bodied palate is bursting with nuanced layers of red fruit, earth, spice and floral perfume. It has a frame of finely chalky tannins and bursts of mouthwatering acidity that call you back for another sip. It's wonderfully easy to drink without sacrificing complexity. 1,000 cases were made.

91 Points from Wine Enthusiast!

This is a twist-top wine built for quick cracking to serve on demand with whatever cuisine is on your table. Zesty aromas of red plum and rose petals lead into a palate of cracked pepper and cranberry, served atop a lighter body, but tight texture.

Tasting Notes: Aromas of cherry, oregano, and slate, On the palate, cherries, flint, thyme with a long acidic finish.

Giornata Il Campo Rosso: Il Campo Rosso is Giornata's version of Italian-style table wine. In Italy, these wines are served in the best local trattoria, many times in unlabeled jugs and make sense with the local fare of the region. The wine is usually just a blend of the most prominent local grape varieties. These wines receive the same care and attention that more prestigious bottlings do, and therefore carry the best value of the consumer. This has always been our family's house wine.

Always blended to display a signature house style, the Il Campo Rosso marries bright fruit and fresh acidity with a richly textured, medium weight body. Neutral oak and large Italian casks allow the bright fruit to shine without makeup. A food friendly, easy drinking wine.

Giornata Wines...Inspired by Italy - Crafted in California

Giornata makes authentic, complex and balanced wines in Paso Robles, CA featuring Italian grape varieties. The journey in creating Giornata started with a dream to create wines from Italian grapes grown in California employing the sensibility and philosophy of Italian winemaking. Giornata works with the same grape vines (clonal material) as the best producers in Italy. The Central Coast of California possesses many of the attributes of the top wine growing regions of Italy. Giornata's winemaking style leans more Italian than Californian in that they favor wines with balance and subtlety rather than intensity and extraction. They pick their grapes at lower sugar levels and handle their must gently in the cellar, thus resulting in wines that belong on the Italian dinner table possessing both ample acidity and tannin. Traveling to Italy on a regular basis, Giornata continues to receive feedback on their efforts while researching Italian winemaking and viticultural methods.
